Participation in the Calgary Dragon Boat Festival encompasses a diverse array of teams, each with its unique character. We have “Club” teams with extended practice seasons, engaging in multiple festivals throughout the year. “Corporate” teams require a minimum of 50% employee participation, fostering teamwork within the workplace.
“Community” teams bring together members from various community associations, registered charities, and non-profits, utilizing dragon boating as a team-building opportunity while raising awareness for their organizations during the Calgary Dragon Boat Race & Festival.
One exceptional category is the “Breast Cancer Survivors” team, a special group that adds a profound and inspirational dimension to our festival.
Regardless of team type, participants span all ages and skill levels, creating a shared camaraderie fueled by the passion for dragon boating.

Remember, all teams must complete online registration before participating in the festival. Additionally, each team member must individually register and sign the online Paddler Registration/Waiver Form before hitting the water.

Due to City of Calgary regulations, team are not permitted to setup their own tents.
Cancellation policy:
After the early bird deadline June 11th, refunds will be given less a 20% administration fee. After July 23rd, no refunds will be given.

All coach and steersperson will be arranged by the CDBS for the “Team Builder Plus” or “Getting Serious” packages

NOTES related to the Festival:
The Festival Paddler Registration / Waiver is separate from the Practice Waiver (for local teams) and must be submitted in order to race at the festival.
A maximum of 26 crew members per registered team.
Upon completing the Festival Registration, a confirmation email will be sent. There will be a link to your Team Dashboard in this email and should be kept to view all your team information including your festival roster.
Your team member should know the team name to complete the Paddler Registration / Waiver Form. The paddler will be added to your Festival Roster once they submit the waiver form (to a maximum of 26 people). You can view your team roster under the Team Dashboard A confirmation email will be sent to the paddler with a link to update their contact information.
