Just 10 Days to Go Until the 2026 Sinopec Calgary Dragon Boat Race & Festival

Calgary, Alberta — July 29, 2026 — The countdown has reached 10 days until North Glenmore Park comes alive with the sound of drums, cheering spectators and paddles cutting through the water at the 2026 Sinopec Calgary Dragon Boat Race & Festival.

Taking place on Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9, the free public festival will welcome + 60 registered dragon boat teams for two exciting days of racing, cultural performances, food, entertainment and family activities.

Teams from Calgary and other communities are now completing their final practices and preparing to compete in front of thousands of spectators along the shoreline.

“With only 10 days remaining, you can really feel the excitement building among the teams, volunteers, sponsors and everyone working behind the scenes,” said Danny Ng, Co-Chair of the Calgary Dragon Boat Society. “Months of planning and training are coming together, and we are looking forward to welcoming Calgary back to North Glenmore Park for a memorable weekend.”

Festival visitors will be able to watch competitive dragon boat racing throughout the weekend while enjoying live performances, food trucks, festival merchants, the Kids Zone, Beer Gardens and activities for the whole family.

The weekend will also feature some of the festival’s most meaningful events, including the Breast Cancer Survivor Race and Pink Flower Ceremony, which honours courage, remembrance and hope.

The Sinopec Dragon Boat Charity Race will bring community and business leaders together in support of Calgary Meals on Wheels, the festival’s 2026 charity recipient.
