Are you and your Club ready for 2022 Dragon Boat Season?
The Calgary Dragon Boat Society is very pleased to announced that we will be hosting another Advanced Paddling Clinic. Tom Arnold from Dragon Boat Canada, the Gorging Dragons and coach of the National Senior B team will be our guest coach again.
In 2019, Tom and his Team of Coaches lead our National Senior B Teams to 15 medals out of 15 races at the International Dragon Boat Federation Racing Championships in Pattaya, Thailand. Come join Tom as he brings his level of experience to the waters of the Glenmore this summer.
New this year is a 2-hour skill building sections on Friday in an OC 6 boat. The drills are designed to help you understand the impact of your individual paddling on the boats forward momentum. Friday sessions are designed for competitive recreational paddlers wanting to improve their overall paddling skills in a Dragon Boat.
There will be a “Coach The Coach” session on Friday evening where local coaches can provide questions for Tom in advance on training tips, techniques and drills.

Our Dragon Boat Sessions are made up of 2 Groups, i.e. A and B, with only 2 boats per session. Each day, i.e. Saturday and Sunday, you are on the water in the morning for about 2-hours and the afternoon for about 2-hours.
While on land, we are setting up Paddling Ergs to give you an opportunity to try a machine that National Paddlers train on when weather conditions do not allow them to paddle outdoors.
Lunch is provided on both days from a local vendor. Like in past years, we are running the Camp out of the CCC Hall. Video feedback on your Club is going to be given to only your Coaches by Tom at a private session held on Saturday Evening.
Your Coach is then going to review the Team Video with the members.
Further details about registration and scheduling will be forthcoming. We look forward to hosting this event and helping to raise up the level of competitive paddling in Calgary and Alberta as a whole.
